STATUS UPDATE by Steven M. Greer, M.D. Dear Supporters of The Disclosure Project, On May 9, 2001, one of the largest and most successful press conferences in the recent history of the National Press Club was completed. More than 20 military, government and corporate witnesses to unambiguous UFO and extraterrestrial events stated their testimony before millions, and this kickoff event for the Campaign for Disclosure was carried by major media world-wide. The event was live webcast, and at 9 a.m. over 250,000 people were waiting on-line for the press conference to begin. The next biggest webcast event at the National Press Club was less than 25,000. While the first hour of the conference was "electronically jammed" according to the president of ConnectLive, the company that webcasts all National Press Club events, eventually thousands of people around the world were able to watch the event on-line. It may still be viewed by going to www.disclosureproject.org. Since May 9, we have conducted dozens of interviews with major media worldwide, including CNN, BBC radio and TV, NBC Dateline, CBS, and others. The Voice of America and dozens of other TV and radio programs have had programs dedicated to the subject. Articles have appeared in Pravda, the Chinese media, the Washington Times, The Sunday Daily Express in the UK, and many other major papers worldwide. Televisa has carried programming for Latin America, and CNN World ran an in-depth and serious story in its international programming. Over 1 billion people worldwide have heard of the project, the witness testimony, and the reality of the UFO/ET subject. Beginning on the day of the news conference, core Disclosure Project staff and witnesses have been meeting with members of Congress, and personal meetings have occurred with over two dozen Senate and House offices. The matter is being taken very seriously--yesterday, I met personally with a member of Congress for more than one hour, and he was extremely interested in the matter and the nature of the covert group controlling UFO-related projects. It is critical that each US citizen concerned with this issue write their member of Congress, their 2 Senators, and President Bush asking that they support open, honest hearings on the UFO/ET issue, ban weapons from space and ban the targeting of extraterrestrial vehicles, and declassify advanced energy and propulsion systems connected to UFO and extraterrestrial objects.
